Kelly A. Razek, D.V.M.- Medical Director

Dr. Kelly is a familiar face around CTAH, even before she earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine.  She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Iver E. Ranum High School in Denver. She attended The University of Northern Colorado and graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science and a minor in chemistry in 2005. After graduation she joined Chisholm Trail Animal Hospital, P.A. as a veterinary assistant and worked in that position until 2008, when she was accepted into the Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

While in veterinary school she served as the president of the Pathology Club and volunteered at a Manhattan homeless shelter. She received her doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2012 and returned to CTAH as an associate veterinarian. She enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, Omar. Together they have 4 pets: Mozart, Maestro, Louie and Dexter.

Daniel Thompson, D.V.M.

Dr. Thompson was born in Wichita and raised on a family farm north of the city.  He graduated from Wichita Heights High School in 1967. He attended Friends University and received a bachelor's degree in biology from Kansas State University in 1971. He received a doctorate in veterinary medicine from KSU in 1975. He is a member of Phi Zeta, the honor society for veterinary medicine. After practicing in animal hospitals in Chicago, Illinois, and Salina, Kansas, he founded CTAH in 1979.

He has served as president of the Wichita Veterinary Medical Association and on the intervention committee for the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. He is a member of the Wichita Crime Commission.  Dr. Dan has appeared weekly (Tuesdays at noon) on Newstalk for KWCH-TV, channel 12, since 1984, answering pet-related questions. He also appears Thursday mornings on the KSCW-TV, channel 5.

He and his wife, Jill have three adult children and four grandchildren. His favorite past-times include reading, music, travel, horticulture and home-brewing. He gets a kick out of the antics of the family's cat, Mathias (A.K.A. Tuffy).

Lori A. Mitchell, D.V.M., C.C.R.P.

A native of Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Mitchell graduated from Wichita Northwest High School in 1980. She received an associate's degree in veterinary technology from Colby Community College in 1982. Her preceptorship was completed at Chisholm Trail Animal Hospital. She worked as a Registered Animal Health Technician in animal hospitals in Wichita and Pond Creek, Oklahoma.  She returned to college while living in Oklahoma and received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 from Oklahoma State University. She practiced in an animal hospital in Springfield, Missouri, before joining CTAH in 1991. She is trained in animal massage, credentialed for regenerative stem cell therapy and is certified by the University of Tennessee in canine physical therapy.

Dr. Lori and her husband, Charlie, have a son, Logan. They enjoy spending time as a family, boating and water skiing at Table Rock Lake.  She travels to dog trials around the country with her Australian Shepherd, Folgers and her Golden Retriever, Forbes. Her dogs have titled in conformation, agility, obedience and field.  The family also provides a loving home for kitty Garfield.

Dr. Jessica Duke, D.V.M.

A born and raised native of Wichita as well, Dr. Duke graduated from Wichita South High in 1993.  She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Kansas Newman College in 1997.  Upon receiving her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2002, Dr. Duke began her veterinary career in Cincinnati, Ohio with the Colerain Animal Clinic.  In 2004 she returned to Wichita and worked with Pet Haven Veterinary Clinic full time while doing relief work for the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital of Wichita.  During that time she served as secretary for the Wichita Veterinary Medical Association.  She started full time with VESH in 2010 and then joined CTAH in 2015.  In addition to companion animals, Dr. Duke brings a special interest in exotic pets to our practice, including treatment of reptiles and small mammals, although she, regretfully, has a severe allergy to guinea pigs.


Dr. Duke likes to spend her spare time with her two sons, ages nineteen and twelve.  The elder is currently attending Wichita State University for engineering and the younger is in middle school and plays for the football team.  Her animal kingdom family includes three cats, Parados, Senka and Josie, her terrier mix, Munchie, a poodle mix, Afrodite and Dizzy, a three-footed box turtle.  When she has time she enjoys participating in charitable work, including Project Care, a local initiative by the Sedgwick County Animal Response Team, which assists homeless pet owners.

A Michigan transplant, Kim comes to CTAH with 16 years of experience as a veterinary assistant and five years running her own animal rescue.  She is our inventory and equipment "guru", but still utilizes her years of expertise as an assistant.  She has a large animal family consisting of six dogs, four cats, two horses and one cockatoo.  Recently, she started showing horses in local shows and is enjoying it immensely.  She also loves trail riding and camping with her husband.

Brittany's love of animals has a long history, stretching back to her first veterinary clinic job when she was 15 years old.  While working at Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, KS she decided to make the move to become a veterinary technician and graduated with her Associates in Veterinary Technology from Brown-Mackie College- Salina, March of 2014.  We are delighted to have her infectious, positive spirit and passion for veterinary medicine here at CTAH.  Currently she assists Dr. Lori.  She enjoys baking, going to the zoo, reading and gardening.  She also loves watching movies with her critters- Lola (papillion), Piper (domestic shorthair) and Fleur (Maine coon).

Amanda comes to CTAH as a seasoned technician, having earned her degree in Veterinary Technology in 2008 and then working in companion animal hospitals ever since.  Her animal family is large, consisting of four cats (Aerabella, Lord Thunderfoot, Leroux and Simon) and two dogs (General Patton and Bingo).  In her spare time she enjoys crocheting, gardening, baking and reading.

After completing a degree in liberal arts Anna decided to make a career change toward veterinary medicine; something that brings her great joy.  She spent three years training in an emergency setting and then joined Chisholm Trail Animal Hospital at the beginning of the 2015 summer.  Anna is civically engaged as an advisor for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, teaching leadership to youth through community service.  She also enjoys kickboxing.  Her animal family includes Patrick (Malamute), Jessie (German Shephered), Ace (tabby) and Earl (tabby).

Our Assistant, Erica, is a very welcome addition to the CTAH gang, bringing several years of experience in veterinary medicine with her.  She has three dogs- Mack (boxer), Pistol (Chihuahua/Schnauzer), Ruger (Chihuahua/Schnauzer) and one cat, Skyler.  In her spare time Erica enjoys bike rides with her family, home improvement and the occasional movie night.

Stephanie's passion for animals began at the age of 17, when she had her first job with a veterinary clinic.  She attributes Dr. Dan as being a big influence in her pursuit of veterinary medicine, as he was her family's veterinarian growing up.  After finishing her degree in criminal justice and forensic criminology, she decided to return to her passion for animals.  In addition to working at a Veterinary Assistant at CTAH, she also spends a few hours a week with Spay-Neuter Kansas.  Horseback riding is a passion for Stephanie, proven by the fact that she has three horses with plans to begin showing.  She also has five cats and a black lab named Jax.  Her human family includes her husband, Bradley, and her nine-year-old daughter, Breckyn.

Brittney is a born and raised Wichitan currently studying Health Services Management at Wichita State University.  Her hard work, sensitivity and bright mind she displayed for over a year as a receptionist made it easy to promote her to Client Care Coordinator this past year.  Brittney enjoys swimming, running, reading and spending time with her family.

Jessi, another friendly face found in reception, brings several years in customer service to CTAH.  She works full-time at the front desk and is studying exercise science at Wichita State University with the hope of, one day, working in physical therapy.  She enjoys cooking, gardening and spending time with friends, family and her boxer, Jasper.

Holly comes to CTAH with seveal years of costumer service under her belt and we are so glad to have her as a part of our client care team.  Currently, she is pursuing her B.S. in Psychology, which she will obtain in December 2016.  She plans on pursuing her Master's Degree in the same field.  Holly enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, swimming and reading.  Her animal family consists of a vast number of fish.

Elizabeth is another friendly face in reception.  Prior to joining CTAH, she completed her Associate's degree in Pre-Nursing and is now working toward's her Bachelor's in the same field at WSU.  When not here at CTAH she enjoys reading, swimming, and watching Netflix with her daschund, Lady, and her cat, Penny.

Autumn is another member of the afternoon team of ward attendants who keep the clinic tidy and help care for our hospitalized patients.  When she is not attending high school or here at CTAH, she enjoys drawing, painting and volunteering.  She loves the opportunity to work with animals and has a large animal family herself- her cat, Boo, her dogs, Gizmo, Pepper, and Buster and Jack, her leopard gecko.

With her eyes on the future, Melanie joined the CTAH team while she began attending Colby Community College's online Veterinary Technician program.  For now, she helps keep the hospital clean and our in-house patients happy while she works toward her degree.  Her animal family includes two Teacup Chihuahuas, Charles and Sofia, a German Shephard, Philo and a bearded dragon, Mushu.  In her spare time she likes walking her dogs, watching Netflix and shopping.
